Our shower curtains certainly kept with the forestry theme.

And I wasn't a fan of the dirty looking off-white tension rod they were hanging on, either. So I chose the highest rated all-in-one spray paint I could find and got to work taking the curtains down to give them a makeover.

I went ahead and spent the $10 or so for a reusable drop cloth and cannot believe I've waited this long to get one. It is a giant, convenient step up from cutting up plastic bags to lay under projects on our tiny apartment balcony, as I'd been doing for the past several years. I chose a long rectangular one, for possible future wall-painting projects.
Make sure the curtain rod is extended (usually done by twisting in the middle) and lay it out on the drop cloth. Then hold the paint 6-12 inches away and spray in one long, continuous motion down the whole thing.

I had some issues with the design of this applicator; it sputtered pretty frequently. I would advise focusing on one of the ends of the rod, where starts and stops won't be as noticeable, until the can gets going. This paint color looks really sparkly in the light, so I'm not sure I would recommend it for bigger projects that you're hoping to pass off as actual chrome or polished nickel. For a small surface area that would be mostly out of sight in sub-par light, however, it fit the bill.
Once the whole thing is painted, let dry for about 2 hours and then (carefully) rotate to spray the other side. Prop up to dry for at least 24 hours. Seriously. Suppress your impatience.
When re-installing, I wanted to try the high-hung shower curtain trend--hence the extra-long curtains. The guest bathroom went from this...

...to this!

It's a very small bathroom and hard to get a picture, but you get the idea. I like the high curtain! It feels somehow a little bit luxurious every time I take a shower. And the silver curtain rod is definitely an improvement.

Now to hunt down some updates to the light fixtures...
